I met Elle at a photography walk in early Fall. After chatting for a bit, we discovered that even though we had driven an hour to the walk, we lived in towns right next to each other. We could have saved the gas and carpooled! We also discovered that her son, Caleb, and I share the same December birthday. How crazy is that?!? After the walk we exchanged cells and promised to get together again soon.
Elle’s family hadn’t had family photos done in a couple years. Although she takes regular photos of her family, as with most mom photographers, there are very few images that include her. She’s expecting some big life stuff happening in the coming year for their family, so she wanted REAL photos of the three of them (and pets) to freeze this moment, this time, before things begin to change.
I photographed her family on a beautiful Saturday morning in the Fall. After finishing up breakfast and hanging out for a bit, we headed out for some scootering and catch. Elle attempted to fly a kite, but the wind didn’t cooperate. Before heading back home, we stopped at Dairy Queen for a treat. Ice cream before lunch?!? Yes please!
The morning might have felt like any other weekend morning to them, but in the ordinary and every day, beautiful stuff happens – Joe’s hilarious facial expressions as he talks and explains things to Caleb, and the smile that spreads across Elle’s face when Caleb is in her arms. They pour so much love into their little boy and he reflects it all right back to them.
The “everyday” isn’t boring or ordinary – it’s filled with so many amazing little moments where the true beauty of family life shine.
